Career Opportunity - Optical Laser Spectroscopy Engineer/Physicist

Optical Laser Spectroscopy Engineer/Physicist

SBDR is a renowned society dedicated to biomedical research into diabetes. The Society is engaging an integral part in research project preparation and application at national and international funding organizations.

For a project on optical laser spectroscopy we are looking for a highly qualified Optical Laser Spectroscopy Engineer/Physicist with expertise in pulsed infrared light and optical laser spectroscopy. The project is aimed at biological particle measurement by infrared optical determination and minimization of optical systems and optical components necessary for a minimized system.

You may be affiliated with an academic or research institiution or a private company, which may become concomitant project partner. You may also be without current affiliation, looking for a project and funding of research into optical laser spectroscopy applied to biomedicine. The place of work will be Germany. If you are affiliated with an international academic or research institute, you may schedule six months/year stay (for at least three years) in Germany to attend our research facility.

Tasks include:

- Specifying, selecting and qualifying active and passive optical components.
- Minimization of optical components and systems.
- Developing and benchmarking system performance models.
- Developing and implementing test procedures.
- Evaluating and selecting appropriate test instrumentation.
- Development and testing of optical systems for biological particle measurement.
- Analyzes, models, measures and predicts optical signatures of optical systems.
- Development of methods for maintenance and repair of components and designs.
- Development of test instrumentation and test procedures.
- Fabrication and testing of prototype systems.
- Modification of design as required.
- Determination of calibration and error analysis on test data.
- Development and maintenance of data collection, reduction, and modeling software.
- Development and maintenance of data bases of measurements and test results.

Essential skills:

- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong communication skills including writing clear and concise reports
- Prepare presentations for decision makers
- Develop innovative testing procedures and methodologies
